Martín Rodríguez out for the season

News has officially come out that Martín Rodríguez is out for the season after tearing his ACL. Injured in training he has undergone reconstruction surgery and is expected to be sidelined for the remainder of the season, therefore being placed on the season-ending injury list.

This should mean that we can fill his spot temporarily for the year. It is a huge shame to lose him as he was a live-wire and showed some great potential, especially towards the end of the season under Rooney’s stewardship.

Russell Canouse Expected to Miss 3-6 Weeks with Collapsed Lung

News coming out of Washington DC is that Central Midfielder Russell Canouse will be missing for potentially the next 3-6 games. This is what the press release said.

D.C. United midfielder Russell Canouse suffered a small pneumothorax (collapsed lung) to his left lung during the second half of the 0-0 draw against the Chicago Fire on Saturday, July 27. He was transported to Rush Hospital in Chicago where he had the pneumothorax drained. He was observed in the hospital for two nights and was discharged on Monday. He arrived back in Washington, DC on Tuesday, July 30. He is expected to miss 3-6 weeks.

A pretty nasty injury, and you knew something was up after he went down 3 times in very quick succession. Initially fans thought it was a winding at 1st, but after the 2nd and 3rd time, everyone thought it was worse. Hopefully he will be back sooner rather than later and be back on the field.
