D.C. United defender Brad Smith suffered a serious injury against Philadelphia Union on July 8th, being stretchered off. Since then it has been found out that he has torn is ACL and will undergo surgery. The club announced this earlier today.
D.C. United defender Brad Smith will undergo anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction surgery on his left knee after tearing his ACL in the match against the Philadelphia Union on July 8. Team physician Dr. Chris Annunziata of OrthoVirginia will perform the surgery. Smith is expected to be sidelined for up to nine months as he rehabilitates from the injury.Club statement
